It’s not just the NRA training classes that have caused concern among many people.
A local mall has reportedly received more than 20,000 calls and emails about it.
NBC Chicago reports the mall’s security guard said it received about 2,200 calls and letters this month, including from people claiming to be members of the NRA.
NBC also reports that the mall has been inundated with people calling to complain about the training class.
“We were shocked and saddened to hear of the death of Officer John J. Collins, a dedicated, dedicated, hardworking officer and father of two, whose passing has impacted our community.
Officer Collins was an active member of our community for over 10 years, and a dedicated and caring police officer who dedicated his life to protecting our citizens,” the mall posted on its Facebook page on Tuesday.
The mall’s statement comes a day after the city of Chicago announced that its police department was stepping up training and resources for its officers, including a three-week course on “How to be a Better Cop,” which is being offered to every officer.
